The ground we cover

We're based in Calgary and work the city plus the ring of communities around it. North, that means Airdrie, a straight run up the QE2 from our Calgary jobs. Northwest is Cochrane, down in the Bow Valley where Highway 1A and Highway 22 meet. East is Chestermere, right against the city limits along the Trans-Canada. South is Okotoks, past the city edge on Highway 2A along the Sheep River. Between and around those sit the acreage belts of Rocky View County and Foothills County, and we take those calls too. If you can water a lawn there, odds are we can design, fix, or winterize the system doing it.

Within Calgary itself we cover all four quadrants, and the yards change more than people expect. Mature areas carry big trees and established beds that want drip conversions and careful re-zoning around roots, while the newer communities at the edges come with fresh sod, builder-grade topsoil, and no irrigation at all, which makes them the most straightforward installs we do.

One thing homeowners moving between these communities rarely expect: the watering rules shift at the municipal boundary, because each town's water comes from somewhere different. Calgary draws from the Bow and Elbow and publishes YardSmart watering guidance year-round, with stage-based schedules that can tighten to assigned watering days when a dry year runs the rivers low. Airdrie and Chestermere buy treated water from Calgary's regional supply, so when Calgary tightens up, its neighbours generally follow.

Okotoks is its own case. The town supplies itself from the Sheep River and has run a standing outdoor watering schedule for years, two assigned days a week based on your house number, with tighter stages when river levels drop. A sprinkler system there has to be scheduled around those days, and we set controllers up to do exactly that.

Chestermere has the region's most unusual water feature: the lake itself started life as a Canadian Pacific Railway irrigation reservoir, and it still feeds the Western Irrigation District's canal network with Bow River water diverted at Harvie Passage in Calgary. The homes around it, though, water lawns from the treated municipal supply like everyone else. Wherever your address lands, we program the controller to match the local rules, so the system stays legal without you tracking bylaw stages all summer.
